A native of Europe, the Lavender is well known for its nerve-calming and insect repelling abilities. This is an herb approved by the German Commission E for treatment of abdominal conditions (such as nervous intestinal discomfort, meteorism, insomnia, and mood swings). It is also approved to use thi medicinal herb for functional circulatory purposes, pain and anxiety.
Lavender is well known and recognised for its vulneray, splenic, sedative, parturient, nervine, muscle relaxant, insect repellent, hypotensive, emmenagogue, diuretic, diaphretic, cordial, cicatrisant, cholagogue, aromatic, antiviral, antirheumatic, antioxidant, antifungal, antidepressant and anti-cancer and analgesic properties.
Primarily used as a calmant, it is most commonly found in traditional and alternative medication system as an ingredient for calming nerves, depression, anxiety, insomnia, nervous stomach, and overall restlessness.
Lavender is also effectively used to improve circulation of blood and regulate blood pressure. It is recommended for pregnant women to take bath and smell as much as possible lavender as it helps with mood swings, sleep and prevents depression. It makes an excellent sleep pillow as well.
The herb is also used for minor bruises, burns, steam burns, and sunburns. It is a most potent treatment for acne; it also relieves itchiness caused by insect bites, rashes and allergies.
