Nettle, also known as stinging nettle and common nettle is a native of Europe and later spread all over North America. In ancient times, besides medicinal properties, this plant was used for spinning fibers.

The nettle is appreciated and used for its tonic, diuretic, depurative, astringent, anti-cancer, anodyne, anti-inflammatory, anti-histamine, and analgesic properties. Rich in Vitamins B complex, A, C, and D and also an excellent source of beta-carotene, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, calcium, and protein this herb is a powerful tonic for the body.

This root has been used to treat allergies, bronchitis, sinus, and hay fever. It is a potent diuretic that helps expel uric acid while at the same controls nighttime urination urges. It is, therefore, an excellent choice for treating irritated bladder, benign prostate enlargement, night incontinence, and gout.

Nettle is a great tonic for the kidneys and the adrenal glands and a preventive for water retention. The root is also used for arthritis pain and osteoporosis. Its high magnesium content makes it a good pain manager.

This root is also recognized as a highly potent female tonic. It helps to ease the symptoms of menopause and the beginning of the menstrual cycle.

Nettle root is also used in the treatment of lupus – an autoimmune disease that affects joints and all major organs in the body – quite effectively.

Recommended Dosage
◉ 1-3 teaspoons of loose tea (or 3g up to 3 times) daily. If more than one herbal mixture is consumed at the same period of time, reduce the amount of tea accordingly.
◉ When herbs are used for an extended period of time, it is suggested to consume a herbal remedy with a ratio of 3 to 1. For example:
- If you choose to take it for 3 weeks, have a one-week pause.
- If it is taken for a 30-day period, have a 10-day pause.
That does not apply to herbs and fruits that have a laxative effect.

Notes
◉ Should be stored in airtight glass containers -in a cool, dark, and dry place- to preserve the flavor, texture, and properties.
◉ Before adding a new herbal remedy or supplement to your daily routine, you should consult with a medical doctor or holistic health practitioner.
