The Karatzovitiki pepper, a gem from Nothern Greece, the land of Aridaia, carries with it a century-old tradition deeply rooted in the region's social and cultural fabric. Originating from the picturesque village of Garrefie, these peppers are celebrated every late summer through a grand social event, marking the traditional cultivation practices of the area.

Cultivated meticulously, Karatzovitiki peppers are distinguished by their unique smoking process. This involves a careful separation of sweet and hot varieties and a slow, 10 to 15-day smoking process over wood fires.
