Cretan Cayenne Chili Powder | Organic
Cultivated in the area of Kouses in Botano’s biodynamic garden, Cayenne chili peppers grow all over the world, including India, East Africa, Mexico, and parts of the United States. They are a member of the nightshade plant family and are scientifically known as Capsicum annuum. Tall, thin, and a brilliant red, they are also related to sweet bell peppers, jalapeños, and the notoriously hot ghost peppers.
Cayenne chili is not only tasty, but it also adds a bit of fire to your dishes and has some amazing health benefits. Rich in antioxidants, the peppers also contain capsaicin, a chemical component that causes the brain to perceive heat or spice and has been shown to help boost the circulatory system as well as have anti-inflammatory properties.
Use
While this ingredient is certainly hot and spicy, it also has an amazing ability to enhance the flavors of other ingredients. You can use it to liven up just about any sweet or savory dish; try a pinch in chocolate recipes including hot chocolate, frosting, sauce, and pudding. For a spicy edge, sprinkle this medium-hot chili pepper over potatoes, curries, soups, stews, burgers, and roasted veggies.
Notes
◉ Should be stored in airtight glass containers -in a cool, dark, and dry place- to preserve the flavor, texture, and properties.
