Onion Flakes or Powder
No more tears, dried onions are here! A wonderful and convenient solution to give flavor and aroma to your food, especially when you've run out of onions! Dried onion flakes have a softer flavor than fresh onion, but they leave a lovely onion scent wherever they are used.
Using our flakes doesn't mean you compromise on the essential vitamins and minerals fresh onions have; these are the real deal and can completely replace them! You just don't have to chop them or cry your eyes out and they last for quite a while on your shelf.
They can be rehydrated by pouring hot water over the top to cover them, then allowing the onion to absorb the water for up to an hour. Drain well and use as you would fresh onion. Onion flakes go well with a variety of spices and enrich the flavor of almost any dish.
Use
Onion flakes may be used in a variety of dishes, including pasta sauces, meat sauces, casseroles, soups, curries, salads, and even dips. It pairs well with roast chicken and lamb, and it enhances the flavor of baked or mashed potatoes.
BONUS TIP: When your dishes are about to boil, add them to absorb moisture and soften. Soak the onion flakes in a little warm water for stir-fry recipes that don't require much boiling time, then add them to the dish once they've softened.
Notes
◉ Flakes should be stored in airtight glass containers -in a cool, dark, and dry area- to preserve their flavor.
