Blackthorn, also called "Prunus Spinosa", is a wild cousin of the cultivated plum endemic to Europe, Western Asia, and northwest Africa. It is named after its dark-colored bark and skin.
Blackthorn berries have a strong sour, bitter, acidic, and astringent flavor.

This plant's dried fruits and leaves can be used to prepare herbal tea. Simply place a teaspoon of Blackthorn berries in a 200ml cup of boiling water, cover, and soak for at least 10 minutes before straining and drinking a cup three times a day.

The berries that remain after making the tea may be utilized not only as a delightful, healthy snack, but also as an addition to cakes, cookies, smoothies, oats, or any other combo you choose!

Furthermore, Blackthorn is ideal for producing sloe gin or sloe wine, as well as jams, jellies, and syrups.

The fruits of the plant possess antioxidant and detoxifying qualities that can aid with digestive difficulties, fever, and bladder or kidney issues.

Notes
◉ Berries should be stored in airtight glass containers -in a cool, dark, and dry area- to preserve their flavor and texture.
