White Peppercorns Organic
White pepper, like black pepper, is obtained from the berries of the Piper nigrum plant, with the fundamental and only distinction being that it is made from fully ripened berries rather than immature ones. The berries are then placed in water for fermentation until the outer shell is peeled away, revealing only the interior seed.
When the skin is removed, some of the flavor, including the piperine, is gone. As a result, white pepper is milder than black pepper, with a musty, grassy, yet slightly fermented flavor.
In terms of nutrition, white pepper is high in antioxidants and contains a hearty dose of fiber, manganese, and iron. This type of pepper and its components may help reduce inflammation, lower blood pressure, boost digestion, treat diarrhea and enhance the absorption of other beneficial compounds, like curcumin.
Use
Use this when you want the flavor of black pepper but without the color. Excellent in cream soups and sauces, mashed potatoes, white gravies, marinades, Chinese soups, stir-fries, salad dressings, and potato salad.
Notes
◉ Spices should be stored in airtight glass containers -in a cool, dark, and dry area- to preserve their flavor.
