Buckthorn Bark (Rhamnus Frangula)
Buckthorn, also known as "black alder", is a plant that is native to North America, Africa, East Asia, and South America. Its medicinal virtues have been recognized for thousands of years.
Buckthorn bark contains anthraquinones, which have a strong laxative effect on the body. They aid in the regulation of bowel movements, particularly when they pass through the colon, preventing the intestines from absorbing too much water. The unabsorbed water will subsequently be transported to the stool, allowing for smooth and painless movement.
Hemorrhoids are an unpleasant side effect of chronic constipation. Stools that are difficult to pass might develop bulging, painful veins near the bottom of your rectum.
When Buckthorn bark relieves constipation, the stool softens, making it easier to pass without causing discomfort associated with hemorrhoids and anal fissures. The bark also acts as a cathartic, relieving the discomfort and pressure produced by these two conditions.
Buckthorn bark can assist individuals with slower digestion feel less bloated and retain less waste in the colon because it helps intestinal muscles transport food through the body.
Recommended Dosage
◉ 1-3 teaspoons of loose tea (or 3g up to 3 times) daily. If more than one herbal mixture is consumed at the same period of time, reduce the amount of tea accordingly.
◉ When herbs are used for an extended period of time, it is suggested to consume a herbal remedy with a ratio of 3 to 1. For example:
- If you choose to take it for 3 weeks, have a one-week pause.
- If it is taken for a 30-day period, have a 10-day pause.
That does not apply to herbs and fruits that have a laxative effect.
Notes
◉ Should be stored in airtight glass containers -in a cool, dark, and dry place- to preserve the flavor, texture, and properties.
◉ Before adding a new herbal remedy or supplement to your daily routine, you should consult with a medical doctor or holistic health practitioner.
