Horsetail (Equisetum Arvense) - Organic
The Equisetum arvense or as it is commonly known, the horsetail or mare’s tail is a native of the temperate Northern Hemisphere. It is best known for its tonic, styptic, refrigerant, diuretic, astringent and antiscorbutic properties.
A rich source of calcium, silicon, and potassium is used in traditional medicine for treating rheumatism, gout, urinary tract infections, and kidney problems. It is used to flush out toxins and bacteria from the kidney and urinary tract without negatively affecting the delicate balance of electrolytes in the body.
The Equisetum arvense is sometimes combined with other herbs to enhance its potencies such as marshmallow root and Oregon grape root to treat and maintain a healthy urinary system; with nettle for enhancing and sustaining the health of bones.
It is also very effective in treating a number of skin disorders caused by bacterial infection.
CAUTION
🡆It is also not recommended for people suffering from kidney stones or high blood pressure and pregnant women.
🡆It is important to note that adequate water may be taken during treatment with this herb because it is an effective diuretic.
Recommended Dosage
◉ 1-3 teaspoons of loose tea (or 3g up to 3 times) daily. If more than one herbal mixture is consumed at the same period of time, reduce the amount of tea accordingly.
◉ When herbs are used for an extended period of time, it is suggested to consume a herbal remedy with a ratio of 3 to 1. For example:
- If you choose to take it for 3 weeks, have a one-week pause.
- If it is taken for a 30-day period, have a 10-day pause.
That does not apply to herbs and fruits that have a laxative effect.
Notes
◉ Should be stored in airtight glass containers -in a cool, dark, and dry place- to preserve the flavor, texture, and properties.
◉ Before adding a new herbal remedy or supplement to your daily routine, you should consult with a medical doctor or holistic health practitioner.
