Alpine Lady's Mantle (Alchemilla Alpina)


Lady's Mantle has a high concentration of vitamin C, salicylic acid, and tannins. It is edible, but has a bitter taste, and has been used in herbal medicine as a tea to treat a variety of diseases.

It is considered a valuable herb for women's gynecological problems, -promoting balance and restoring health to the reproductive tract- especially for heavy bleeding during menstruation and vaginal itching, period pains and cramping, menstrual disorders, and menopause (hot flashes and mood swings).

However, the health advantages of the lady's mantle do not stop with the female reproductive system. It is an excellent healing herb because it reduces bleeding and the danger of infection, and promotes the formation of new healthy tissue. Furthermore, alchemilla promotes skin health and vitality by protecting against UVB exposure and preventing the enzymes that break down collagen, causing obvious indications of aging such as wrinkles and loss of firmness. 

Lady's mantle, as a cooling astringent, helps alleviate the discomfort and heat associated with mouth ulcers, GERD, and diarrhea. It is also effective as a gargle for sore throats.

Moderate usage of this plant supports liver health and improves urinary and renal health by supporting complete bladder elimination. It may also assist to minimize the size and severity of kidney stones, as well as prevent their formation altogether.

Lady's mantle is also thought to be a soothing herb for reducing high blood pressure, agitation, and spasms.

Recommended Dosage
◉ 1-3 teaspoons of loose tea (or 3g up to 3 times) daily. If more than one herbal mixture is consumed at the same period of time, reduce the amount of tea accordingly.
◉ When herbs are used for an extended period of time, it is suggested to consume a herbal remedy with a ratio of 3 to 1. For example:
- If you choose to take it for 3 weeks, have a one-week pause.
- If it is taken for a 30-day period, have a 10-day pause.
That does not apply to herbs and fruits that have a laxative effect.

◉ Should be stored in airtight glass containers -in a cool, dark, and dry place- to preserve the flavor, texture, and properties.

Herbal Tea Brewing Instructions

  1. Heat the water to just the point when it starts to boil.
  2. Add 1 teaspoon of loose tea, to a tea infuser or tea bag, for every 180ml - 240ml of water.
  3. Pour the heated water (right off the boil) over the tea, cover your cup, and steep for 7-10 minutes or longer.
  4. Add honey or stevia for sweetness, if desired.
